Global Modular Flooring Company Showcases Latest Carpet Tile Collection at NeoCon
CHICAGO (June 11, 2018) – Interface (NASDAQ: TILE), a worldwide modular flooring company and global leader in sustainability, introduces its latest global carpet tile collection, Visual Code™. Visual Code marries the worlds of high-tech and high-touch through pairing images of glitch graphics and technicolor circuitry with simple textures that recall traditional woven fabrics and rugs. The collection is on display at NeoCon in the company’s Chicago Merchandise Mart showroom #10-136 and the adjacent Interface Chicago showroom at 345 North Wells St.
Visual Code showcases 10 unique face styles that coordinate, yet vary widely in color, pattern and texture. The global collection is designed to foster engagement with the natural world and real, high-touch objects like hand-crafted materials and goods. Visual Code brings these qualities back into commercial interiors such as corporate offices, educational facilities and multi-family living environments. The collection pulls from emerging digitally-inspired artistic trends, such as the corruption or manipulation of images to achieve a colorful, disarrayed appearance defined as the “glitch” effect as well as the merging of highly saturated colors with computer circuitry known as technicolor circuitry.
Visual Code is comprised of patterns that promote a sensory experience. The collection features:
- Core textures: Plain Stitch™, Stitchery™ and Stitch Count™
- Bold patterns and accents: Static Lines™, Hard Drive™ and Circuit Board™
- Black and white patterns: Darning™, Haptic™, Overedge™ and Decibel™
Visual Code can stand alone or coordinate with existing and future Interface offerings, such as Drawn LinesTM, a luxury vinyl tile (LVT) product also featured at NeoCon, which allows designers, specifiers and end-users the ultimate flexibility to create distinctive flooring with seamless install across soft and hard surfaces.
The collection’s designer, David Oakey, founder of David Oakey Designs and product designer exclusive to Interface, was inspired by the contradiction of technology overload and people’s desire to be surrounded by more artisanal and hand-crafted environments. This collection accelerates the handcrafted trend first seen in the popular Interface product launch by Oakey called the World Woven™ collection. Oakey recognized a need for more human connection in the workplace and designed Visual Code to humanize experiences and restore imagination.
“In a world of AI, VR, robotics and smart everything, we are losing our ability to have truly organic and creative thinking. Visual Code brings engagement with the natural world and real, high-touch things back into our spaces,” says Oakey. “I was inspired by the juxtaposition of a trend like the glitch effect and organic textures. This concept of joining simple grays with bold, bright and scrambled colors and balancing in four striking black and white textures promotes a playful, creative experience and provides calming qualities that mirror the natural world.”
Visual Code, along with Interface’s complete portfolio of carpet and LVT, is also carbon neutral through its entire lifecycle as part of the company’s new Carbon Neutral Floors™ program, at no extra cost to Interface customers. Announced this week at NeoCon, customers can now help meet their project or company sustainability goals by choosing Interface products, all of which will be carbon neutral. The carbon neutral program is verified annually by independent third-party auditors.
The Visual Code modular carpet collection is available in 25cm x 1m Skinny Planks™ ranging from flat to plush and even a shag style. It is now available for purchase in the Americas and will launch in EMEA and APAC in the third quarter of 2018. To learn more about Visual Code, visit the collection page on Interface’s website.
