Interface, Inc., a worldwide commercial flooring company and global leader in sustainability, today unveils Flash Line, its first carbon negative microtuft product, when measured cradle to gate. Flash Line joins Zen Stitch™, Tokyo Texture™ and Shishu Stitch™ from Interface’s Embodied Beauty™ collection as part of its carbon negative carpet tile portfolio.
Inspired by the dramatic light trails that appear when using a high exposure flash on a camera at night, the collection adds depth and power to any space. Designed using a combination of specialty yarns and Interface’s unique tufting processes, Flash Line comes as standard on the company’s CQuest™BioX backing. The tightly constructed microtuft carpet tile uses less yarn to produce, carries 100% recycled yarn and contains 86% recycled and bio-based content. Flash Line enables architects and designers to create a unique floor solution that helps to reduce the carbon footprint of the spaces they design, whilst retaining a classic, minimalist look.
The Flash Line product presents three base shades; medium grey, charcoal grey and black. Each base colour is paired with one of 8 colourways ranging from contemporary accent tones in magenta, terracotta and mint, to the softer inflections of beige and grey, to ensure there is a range to suit every design palette. The low pile construction of Flash Line works seamlessly with Interface’s luxury vinyl tile (LVT) and nora® rubber flooring.
Installed using the ashlar or herringbone method, the 25cm x 1m plank system offers multiple space creation possibilities. The pile construction and excellent sound absorption qualities of carpet tile mean the product is well suited for open, high footfall areas.
“Flash Line offers the functionality and durability of a hard surface with the texture and tone of carpet tile” said Mandy Leeming, Design Director at Interface for Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia (EAAA). “As we transition back to our workspaces over the coming months, people have said that they want to work in spaces that are flexible and functional yet offer zones for connection. The grey and black tones offer a solid base and the colour accents give designers the ability to provide pockets of drama to help space users navigate their journey.”
The Flash Line product is another step towards creating products that have a positive impact on the environment, helping Interface to support its commitment to reverse climate change through its Climate Take Back™ programme.
