Launched by the United States Green Building Council’s Center for Green Schools in 2012, the Green Apple Day of Service is a global volunteer effort that gives parents, teachers, students, companies and local organizations the opportunity to transform schools into healthy, safe and productive learning environments through local, community-based volunteer projects.
Interface was one of the first companies to join the effort as a founding sponsor in 2012; exemplifying our sustainability mission, supporting our commitment to “legacy” social sustainability projects, and expanding our leadership in the education segment. Green Apple Day of Service is an expression of our commitment to restorative business, leaving the world a better place through inspiring and healthy spaces for learning, educating youth, and tackling global social issues.
These projects can’t be tackled alone so we choose to partner with many organizations to broaden our impact, including local USGBC chapters and members of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). Who better to lead this redesign than professionals in interior design? Manufacturers, including furniture, paint and fabric industries, also joined us to donate products and services to transform educational spaces and inspire our youth.
